About Me

Welcome to Mrs. Mata's 3rd Grade Class!

I would like to start off with how excited I am to be here at Mesa View Elementary School. This is my first year here at Mesa View, but it will be my fourth year teaching. I taught a 4/5 multiage class for three years at a charter school and now I am thrilled to teach 3rd grade.

A little bit about me:

I received my Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies with a focus in History, and my credential through California State University San Marcos. I have attended professional development trainings in American ORFF Schulwerk Association, which incorporates music and movement into education, Whole Brain Teaching, SCEWL and SPEC trainings, California Association for the Gifted, and the California Education and the Environment Initiative. My education philosophy is based off of the student centered model that focuses on students taking ownership of their learning where they collaborate, communicate, create, and critically think and analyze. Your child is our future, so they need the right skills and tools to be successful in the 21st century.

I have been married to my husband for 10 years this October and we have two loving Shih-tzus that keep us busy and entertained. I love the outdoors, especially hiking in the beautiful national parks. I have been to Yosemite, Glacier, Zion, the Grand Canyon just to name a few of some of my favorite destinations.

I look forward to an outstanding year with all of you!
